Physical Education and Extracurricular Activities

Our facility boasts a multi-purpose gymnasium and beautifully equipped playgrounds. Through the Physical Education program, students develop:
- an understanding of the importance of physical fitness and how to attain it;
- a personal commitment to daily physical activity and healthy habits;
- basic movement skills required to participate in life-long physical activity;
- an understanding of the relationship between physical fitness and the reduction of health risks (e.g.: obesity and heart disease).
The skills and concepts in fitness are presented sequentially, using a balance of games, activities and gymnastics. Students are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including team sports, skating and/or skiing, swimming, dance and karate.
Our school has proudly adopted its first mascot and logo for our school teams. The “AMS Wolverines” is known among the athletic community as a school team that can compete with the best of the best. AMS is school with many teams including soccer, ball hockey, flag football and basketball to name a few. The AMS Wolverines have earned many banners for excellence in various sports, including co-ed basketball for the past 2 years.
Our Phys-ed program covers curriculum related health topics, various sports and extensive cardiovascular activities. As of this year we have started daily morning exercise routines for those who wish to attend before classes start as a head start for the day to come. Our phys-ed uniforms are red and blue so our new logo dons these colors as well. Good sportsmanship, exercise and playing in a safe environment are all included in our programs.
