AMS FAMILY
PARENT COUNCIL

Hey, It’s All for Our Children!

AMS Family “Parent Council” is a community association of AMS Families — every Parent/Guardian of a student at AMS is automatically a Member of the Parent Council.

OUR FOCUS, MISSION and GOALS

FOCUS: Our children … all of our children.

MISSION: Family involvement for all of our Children.
We believe our children will be uplifted by parental leadership and meaningful involvement in cooperative extra-curricular projects which enhance and enrich the educational development of our children. And so we seek the support of every AMS family. Our children are depending on us.
(Note: We have no responsibility in matters
 of curriculum, teaching, or administration.)

GOAL: Create, cultivate and uplift School spirit, and build AMS community pride. To achieve this goal, we:

  • Offer a variety of social and educational programs.
  • Reach out to local community, including supporting charitable efforts.
  • Raise funds to enhance/upgrade School facilities for our students’ benefit so as to enrich their time at AMS.

PROJECTS to DATE

Starting from our creation in 2005, we so far have undertaken or are planning the following projects.

Dec 2005: Year-End Fundraiser of Desert/Plant sales and Christmas Tree raffle (raised $5,000).

Dec 2005: Local Community Family Outreach. In conjunction with Leeder Place, we provided 11 needy families with food and gifts for the year-end holiday season.

June 2006: Silent Auction and Speaker Forum. In the future we expect the Silent Auction will be an annual stand-alone event, with the Speaker Forum as its own series. (raised $14,000)

June 2006: Exotic Animal Show, sponsored by us and presented free for every AMS class.

October 2006: Fall Fair (planning underway), being a rescheduling of the original summer (too hot!) fair.

Most projects will be repeated in some form each year; others may be added. We welcome your project suggestions:

A BIG “THANK YOU” to ALL THOSE WHO
ARE WORKING SO HARD ON OUR TEAM.
We need many more energetic team players.
Please volunteer for and support our projects.

Important Note: Any and all funds raised (and assets acquired) by us are for student use. They do not become the property of the School. Assets are stored by the School, but we own them. Examples of assets so far acquired and owned by us include: tents and canopies used on Sports Day and at the School Fair, and the large projection screen in the Gym.

Legal Status & By-Laws: We are in process of incorporating as a non-profit association – independent of the School with a set of By-Laws. We will seek Charitable status.
