About AMS: Testimonials

See what Dr. Steven Hughs has to say about Montessori Education here

"When researching schools in our area, we were looking for a warm, safe and inviting environment for our children, as well as a school that encourages academic excellence from each child. Loving teachers, who will instill and guide the children in independence and teach the importance of kindness towards others. We have two children in the school, one in grade two and the other, a second year Casa student. We are so thrilled that all of the important components of what we feel makes a thriving school operate, are being met (and beyond) at AMS. It is a wonderful feeling knowing our children are surrounded by enthusiastic and nurturing teachers and staff. A great place for a child to be and a loving home away from home."
Jill and Bill Powell, AMS parents since September 2008

"We have 2 children attending AMS (Grade 1 & 6). Our son is in his 4th year and our daughter is in her 2nd year. It’s a great school with a very professional and dedicated staff. AMS is big enough to provide our children with diversity and extensive experience and yet small enough to make them feel at home! We are all like a big family. It feels “right” when sending our children to school every day."

"Administrative staff is extremely helpful and open to communication. No problem is too small for them. It’s very comforting for a parent to know that they are always there for your child. They do their utmost to meet all the parents’ wants and needs."Senior students hard at work

"Our kids love to go to school. It’s so nice to be able to see the progress in their knowledge from day to day! Our daughter used to go to public school. People say “curriculum is the same, why bother paying?” I’m glad that we gave it a try! What a difference! Independence, respect, solid knowledge, individual approach to name a few. If your child is ahead nobody is holding him/her back to wait while the other students catch up. They challenge him/her instead! On the other hand, if he/she is behind, teachers address the problem right away before it grows into something big. I found it extremely helpful in following the progress of our children. The teachers are very devoted. They are on a constant quest to make it interesting and exciting for the kids: projects, trips, open discussions."

"The Casa program was a wonderful base for our son. Teacher-to-student ratio is low and they get a lot of attention along with constant development of independence and concentration. What a neat feeling to watch a 4 year old holding a door for an adult or doing his chores in the classroom or helping the teacher with flower arrangement! And that’s just the topping on their knowledge base! Our son learned how to read, write cursive (!) add and subtract. Some people would say that they don’t need cursive at this age. But it was proven that this type of finger movement develops their little brains and logic. They also have presentations on geography and history, learn French, discover art and music, etc. Kids are like sponges at this age. So, why settle for less?"

"I think the program is very interesting, detailed and intense. It challenges children and yet lets them move at their own pace. The Art program is amazing – it is displayed throughout the school. The French is very strong. My child in Grade 1 speaks French already! Word, Excel, PowerPoint in computer class in Grade 5/6 and blind typing and working with documents as of Grade 1! Choice of musical instruments to play for their Music classes. Live school band greeting parents at 3:30 pm when coming to pick up the kids! A dedicated Librarian helping children with their book choices and motivating them to read. Gym classes twice a week indoors and out, basketball, ball-hockey, badminton and volleyball teams. Did I mention the beautiful grounds? Lots of places to run around during recess and staying safe. A lot of free after school clubs. The school organizes holiday concerts, Fall Fairs and Winter Carnivals, skating and skiing trips, astronomy nights, camping, March Break and Summer camps.. . The list just goes on!

It works great for my children! I can really see the difference! Thank you AMS."

“There are so many academic options for parents to choose from. As with many parents, we strive to offer the best opportunities to our children. When we decided to choose Aurora Montessori for our children's academic development, we hoped for the best. To our relief, that's exactly what we got. The warmth with which our family was welcomed - by both the families and administration of the school - made it obvious that this is a wonderful community. One that we are grateful to be a part of.

Our children's teachers always make the time to communicate areas for improvement as well as our children's successes. Their dedication and passion for academic excellence is apparent. We have already seen the benefits to our children in the short time they have been with AMS. We couldn't be happier about our choice. Thank you for giving us peace of mind.”
Bryan and Nicky Middleton, AMS parents since September 2009

“AMS is a premier school, providing world-class education, where children can excel.  Our own daughters are well ahead of non-AMS peers.
AMS is a model school, and we grade it A+ across the board.”
Frank Feather & Tammie Tan, AMS parents since September 1999

“My children have attended schools in various places around the globe and AMS has been our very best overall experience, without a doubt.

The academic excellence, combined with a truly warm, inviting atmosphere and contagious energy make it a place where a love of learning becomes a way of life.
My children benefit everyday from the expertise of a staff which is enthusiastic, engaging, and demands excellence in all areas.  They seem to have a talent for bringing out the best in their students.

The Montessori tradition of treating each other with grace, courtesy and respect is alive and well at AMS, among and between students, teachers and administrators, and the result is impressive – a pleasure to observe!  Simply put, as a parent, AMS is a place you want your children to be everyday."
Nicole and Christopher Clark, AMS parents since November 2004

“AMS is an extension of our family.  The staff not only teaches the children, but nurtures them.  The children are encouraged to reach their full potential at their own pace.  What more would you want for your child?”
Bernie and Anita Kaefer, AMS parents since September 1999

“The Toddler program is where the love for learning begins. Mrs. Rommelaere has always showered each of my children with love and gently guided them through their years with her.  Her endless patience and kind words always put a smile on their faces.  Hand in hand with her fellow staff, she sets the standard very high.  Mrs. Rommelaere is a true gem  -  priceless.”
Erik and Tzipora Jeppesen, AMS parents since September 2001

“Although it is with a sad heart that we leave Aurora Montessori (after 8 wonderful years), we can leave with the confidence that through their education at AMS our children will be well equipped to deal with any future challenges they may face, both academically and socially.  Very few opportunities seem to arise nowadays where money is so well spent that it is especially important to us that we again thank you for your kindness and professionalism.  We will be leaving with memories that we will cherish always and if the chance should arise that we should return to this area, AMS will be our first choice.”
Diana and Mario Sabatini, AMS parents since September 1998

“As a parent of two girls who have benefitted from an AMS education, I have observed many advantages the school has given our girls:  an early education second to none, team spirit, and an obligation to help those in need in our community.  What a wonderful start!
I want our girls to grow and develop strong friendships, as well as a responsibility to others.  AMS complements their home experience in developing their character, to help them develop into young women who are confident and learn how to make their own successes.”
Joel and Jacqueline Dandele, AMS parents since September 2002
